Raleigh, NC
Milner Commons offers seniors a welcoming and affordable place to call home in a rapidly changing East Raleigh neighborhood. Located on the former site of the Milner Memorial Presbyterian Church, the development honors the site’s legacy by fostering connection and community while thoughtfully repurposing materials from the original building, including stained glass, brick, and wooden pews.

Creating Homes, Strengthening Community
A partnership between DHIC, Kintura, and the Presbytery of New Hope, the 156-unit community provides housing for adults aged 55+ earning at or below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Supported by funding from the City of Raleigh, Milner Commons responds to the growing need for affordable housing for the city’s aging population.
Access & Opportunity
Designed as two four-story residential buildings, the community promotes well-being, independence, and daily engagement. Residents have access to a range of amenities, including a multi-purpose room, media center, fitness studio, tenant storage, quiet reflection spaces, screened porches, and shared outdoor areas such as a gazebo and landscaped pocket park. Located along the future New Bern Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Corridor, Milner Commons prioritizes connectivity and access. This planned transit route will link residents to key destinations across Raleigh, supporting mobility and connection to the broader community. Milner Commons reflects a thoughtful, collaborative approach to affordable senior living, creating not just housing, but a place where residents can feel connected, supported, and at home.
