The Raleigh Transit Operations facility consists of a six building campus on a 23 acre site. The facility is the first integrated administration and maintenance facility of its kind in the nation to achieve Platinum LEED certification. Major components in achieving LEED Platinum certification include: geothermal heating/cooling, radiant floor heating, natural light via windows/ skylights, and rapidly renewable materials. The campus consists of the Administration/Operations Building and Poole Road Bus Shelter. It is designed with a cohesive material palate consisting of precast concrete with glass and metal accents on a steel structure. The tectonics of the structures are emphasized throughout the facility through the expression of the joints, connections, and overlaps. The structure is intended to complement its honest technological function with a technological aesthetic.
