Cline Design provided complete master planning for the entire park that included; leading the public input process, landscape architectural design and permitting from Schematics through Contract Documents for Phase One.
Northgate Park is an existing 30 acre City Park that was established in the 1930’s and serves as the focal point for the entire Northgate Park community of Durham. Services provided include realignment of the North/South greenway corridor that runs through the entirety of the park, children’s play areas, pedestrian loop trail, amphitheater, picnic/ restroom buildings as well as overall parking and circulation improvements.
The park also incorporates a major stream restoration and water quality improvement effort on Ellerbe Creek, a major tributary in the middle of the parcel that had been previously filled and channelized. Cline Design coordinated with the efforts of the State’s Ecosystem Enhancement Program in a project to re-naturalize the creek bed and install constructed wetlands at the terminus of many of the drainage systems that entered the park from the surrounding neighborhood.
